Many musicians face the challenge of marketing their
music as well as completing other tasks associated
with making them successful.
Here are 6 tips to help you with this issue. Read on...
1. Get someone to help you.
If your budget permits it, hire an assistant or
manager. Many folks find virtual assistants super
helpful.
2. Break down the tedious tasks into smaller
parts. If you have 10 calls to make to
clubs and 20 press kits to send out, don't overwhelm
yourself thinking it needs to be done in one
day. Set a reasonable goal for each day on how
many calls you can make and still have a life as well
as how many press kits you can send out without
the task being unbearable.
3. Reward yourself after completing your
goal tasks. Find a reward that will keep
you motivated to finish those annoying tasks you
tend to avoid.
4. Be realistic. If you're like me
and can think of a hundred ideas that could propel
your business, slow down and start with
just one of your best ideas. Don't take on too much
or you will be overwhelmed and not be able to do any
of it.
5. Always make time for the aspects of
music that you love. Pursuing the business
of music isn't fun for everyone - balance the
business end with the parts that you love - playing
music, creating music, listening to music or whatever
rejuvenates you as a musician.
6. Learn to accept rejection and move
on. Often times musicians are tentative in
marketing their music for fear that people won't like
it. You know the deal, there is not one songwriter or
band or singer who's music is appreciated by 100% of
the population. Success comes from stretching
yourself and moving through your fears.
